A journey through 3 centuries of history

One of the five oldest soap brands in the world

In the distant nineteenth century, L’Amande was one of the main brands of the ancient Marseille soap factory “Garcin & Rabattu”. The growing importance that the brand gradually acquired and the great appreciation by customers meant that in 1884 it was registered with the Chamber of Commerce of Marseille and even gave the company its name: thus the “Huilerie & Savonnerie de L’Amande ”, destined to become one of the most important soap factories of the golden age of Marseille soap-making (late 19th century, early 20th century).

During the important expansion phase of the 1950s, L’Amande crossed the Alps, becoming Italian in all respects, together with other minor brands of the F.I.S.A.M. (Italian factory of Savonnerie Amande in Marseille) of Vallecrosia in the province of Imperia, a company established about 30 years earlier by Huilerie & Savonnerie de L’Amande specifically to produce and market their soaps in Italy and Colonies. Meanwhile in Marseille, also due to the heavy losses caused by the bombings of the Second World War, the Huilerie & Savonnerie de L’Amande ceased operations. All of its original formulations, machinery, and customers finally passed to the company L’Amande S.r.l. based in Savona.

The company and its philosophy

For over a century, L’Amande has been synonymous with quality in tradition, the great tradition of Mediterranean soap making. Faithful to this important heritage, L’Amande soaps are still produced in a boiler, according to the ancient method known as Marseillaise, cooking the oils and raw materials for 6 days and 6 nights.

To the solid soaps, which made L’Amande famous in France in the late 1800s, we have gradually added real liquid soaps, creams, bubble baths, shampoos, toothpaste, lip balms, eau de parfum, and much more. again, in full respect of the great quality that has always distinguished L’Amande.

This history, our history, so ancient and so rooted in the territory, that strip of land bathed by the Mediterranean Sea between Genoa and Marseille is now part of ourselves and of our products. For this reason, we only use the best oils, perfumes and essences of our land, with specific olfactory and phytocosmetic virtues: olive oil, the real gold of the Mediterranean, and sweet almond oil from which our brand took its name. ; the broom, the strawberry tree, the blackberry typical plants of the Mediterranean scrub; honeysuckle and hawthorn that perfume the country lanes adorning the typical dry stone walls; the pittosporum by now an integral part of the Riviera landscape itself and many others.

Scents and sensations of a land where the sea breeze blends with the warm, sometimes floral, sometimes more decidedly fruity notes of a generous nature in every season, where plants, aromatic herbs, and flowers invade paths, hills, and even cliffs.

Today L’Amande is one of the five oldest soap brands in the world.
